Moving Forward

Hi All!

It's been soo long, I wanted to give you a heads up from the last year. Chris and I renovated our house for almost 7 months last year, so we where living with my parents. That was a big bag of mixed emotions, from joy to stress to happiness and so on. This year after being back in our place for 9 months I have really been thinking alot about my business. I have had a lot of ups and downs when it has come to my candiware jewelry. But I think after 11 years its time to say good bye to mini clay jewelry.

There is a lot of resins why its time for me to go but manly its just not really where I feel passion for anymore. I feel like my jewelry never really took off like I wanted it to and I think its time to sell off my stock and findings so that I can move forward. I have also been very busy with other things in my life like my full time job as a lead 3D layout artist on a Disney show. As well as YouTube and Twitch.

Worry not I am not fully planning on closing my etsy shop it will just grow with me. I am moving into sticker making with my love of drawing coming back after soo many years I'm happy to be moving into the next step of my business. I hope you will follow me on this year of growth!

Also I would love the help selling off my mini jewelry stock its 60% off so help yourself ;)

Good Bye To Shopify

Hello everyone,

I wanted to talk about having a shopify, and also why I no longer have one. First I would like to say that I thought it was pretty good. It took me all of family day to get my shop up and running. I had my shop open till last month. Now lets get into what I thought of there platform.

If you have a very strong following and lots of  sales its wonderful, of course right? Well that wasn't the case for me. I guess I have been pushing my etsy shop for 9 years, that I was finding a bit of a struggle to get buyers to jump ship. I did find that if I did have a sale that the buyer did buy more then one item. The many programs on there website do encourage buyers to invest more into your line. There shipping page and getting your clients to become part of newsletters was a lot easier too.

At the end of the day the lack of sales and the high price for there serves was far to much to keep my brand on there platform. I do know it works for many sellers but as of right now I am not one of them. I guess I'm an etsy girl to the better end!

Please let me know if you would like a more in depth look at both etsy and shopify. I want to help out my fellow artist/ sellers out there. Do you use one of these platforms or one of the other eCommerce sites out there? I would love to know what you use.

Blogging Again!

Its been a bit since I have talked about how I am doing. I am feeling like this might be a good time to try and do a blog a week talk about life things/ whats new. As you all know I have been working very hard on my shopify website.

About my shopify. I am working though a how to build your brand/ sales workshop. One of the challenges is building a website outside of Etsy. This is so that you can have more control of your website and also to get more analytics. I have always been of the mind of sending your buyers to one place. So setting up a new shop outside of Etsy, which I have been part of for 9 years, is hard for me. I jumped in with both feet and over the feb. long weekend, I worked the hole weekend to get my new shop up and running. So far I have only had one sale. I say its a start! I'm going to try it for a few months and see how it goes. I'm almost done the challenge workshop so we will see how it goes.

I also started a new job in animation that I had never done before, at the start of the year. I was getting a lot of anxiety and stress, at the start. I felt like I was doing everything wrong. I think this was because my pas job, I was there for 5 years. You just get used to old ways. Where as at my new job I felt like I was tossed into the deep end and didn't know how to swim. Now it has been 2 months and I feel that things are coming together. I'm super happy about that.

In other news: I have my jewelry in a small shop in Toronto called Old's Cool General Store , The Toronto Etsy Street Team I am part of has a gallery space for the next year. Also Chris and I are in the early stages of doing a major reno to our house. More to come on these topics later!

Skill Share DIY Peanut Butter and Jam Earrings

I wanted to try something out that's a little different then YouTube this week. This is a website called Skill Share! Skill Share is a wonderful place where you can learn or teach anything. I have been having a lot of stress and been super depressed about a lot of things last week. I thought it was time to try something new. I hope to have a full blog post as to whats going on in my life, once I get a hold of it myself. I do hope you will stick around to find out more. Also not to worry, as of right now I am still going to be posting onto YouTube.

Interview with CosmicWishes

 Hi everyone! Today I have something wonderful to sharing with you! Meet Casey of CosmicWishes! I just love her work and I think you will do. So here is a mini interview I did with her.

Tell us a bit about yourself Hi there! My name is Casey and I am the owner of CosmicWishes on Etsy as well as the creator of Love XO on YouTube. I'm 24 years old and the proud mom of two little girls! I was born and raised in Tennessee, but I now live in Missouri. I've been crafting and making videos for around 5 years now!

So what is your shop(or youtube, which ever you wanna talk about), all about what do you offer?
My Etsy shop is called CosmicWishes and it's a space based shop where I sell resin and polymer clay jewelry. In my shop you will find a lot of creepy cute, space grunge, pastel goth, and kawaii jewelry. I base my shop around the things I love the most!What are all of your social media?

So, describe the process of creating your items: how, when, materials, etc.? I usually work late at night as I feel more inspired during the night time. I put some music on, light some candles, then start crafting! If I'm working with polymer clay I will set out all of my clay then grab the tools that I work the most with which are dotting and needle tools, x-acto knife, a small ball of tin foil, a tooth brush, chalk pastels, and of course eye pins! If I'm working with resin I clear off my craft table, gather my resin, clear plastic cups, and pop sickle sticks. After mixing my resin I get my molds, glitter, stickers, beads and then I start creating!

Got other hobbies that you love? I love playing video games! I'm obsessed with Nintendo and their handheld consoles. I've been a lover of Nintendo since I was a little girl and the love just gets stronger as I grow older :p In case you were wondering my favorite game is Animal Crossing!

Any advice for people starting out? Never give up!!

What other artist do you like/love? There are so many wonderful artists that I love but here are a few of my favorites: funkypinkgal, mistypixel, dreamycraftshop, xoxrufus, nerdecrafter, polymomotea, thelittlemew, and toniellison.

Okay, last question, where do you see yourself in ten years?
I've always seen this question, but it's never something I've asked myself. 10 years ago I never thought I'd be where I am today, so in 10 years time there's no telling where I'll be then. I have hopes, goals, and dreams for myself but I try not to look to far in the future. Like most people, I only wish to be healthy, happy, and successful!

Crazy week and a bit.

So Chris and I just moved into our new place last weekend. Since then we are trying to get the backyard in order. (Photos on my Instagram) and get as much of the house done as we can. This is because I have an interview/workshop with Innerspace today, and my brother in law is moving in about 2 weeks. Also right before we moved Etsy Canada asked me for a box of my jewelry for a photo shoot that they only gave me a day to get ready for. CRAZY right! Well here are some photos from the shoot! I am so happy to be a part of Canadian style!

Vegan food + Etsy Summit

So on the weekend I really wanted to make tzatziki sauce but vegan! Let me just tell you it was wonderful! I want to put it on everything!

Then I made vegan cupcakes for a party Chris and I where going to. So I made key lime coconut cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Tame Over The World.. Let me just tell you that I love this book soo much. Oh and that the cupcakes are soo yummy!

Lastly I went to an Etsy Summit in Toronto it was a lot of fun and learned a lot about shows! Made new friends around Canada. Anyways that's all I will say for now about it :)
